Erin Norton graduated from East Carolina University in 2003 with a B.F.A. in Dance Education. While studying at E.C.U. she also taught dance classes for the Greenville Civic Ballet and the Little People’s Creative Workshop. In addition to the ECU faculty, Erin had the opportunity to work with guest artists including Mia Michaels and Gabe Masson. Shortly upon graduation, Erin was hired by Baltimore County Public Schools to establish the dance program at New Town High School. Seven years later, Erin was hired to establish another Fine Arts Dance program at Hereford High, and has happily been here ever since. Since it’s inception, the Dance Program at Hereford has grown from one class offering to five. Our dancers have consistently been chosen to receive All County and All State Honors, and to perform at events all over Maryland.
In 2010, Erin was recognized with the Simon A. McNeely Award for excellence in Dance Education, and in 2011, she was honored to receive the award for Maryland’s Dance Teacher of the Year. In 2019, Erin and a few of her lessons were also featured in Dance Teacher Magazine.
When she is not teaching at Hereford, Erin is a Summer Faculty member at The Moving Company Dance Center. She also works closely with the Maryland Dance Educators Association, and served for six years co-founder and chair of the Maryland Dance Alliance. In her free time, she enjoys running, volunteering, and spending time with her husband Mikey, and two sons Benny and JJ.
